Project type
web design + development

The Ship Caulkers’ Houses tells the story of Baltimore’s free Black ship caulkers who were critical to the shipbuilding industry of the 1800s, ensuring that ships were water-tight and could travel to the farthest reaches of the world. Baltimore’s Black ship caulkers were truly the technologists of their day.

With minimal lines, bright and bold color fields, and full bleed parallax imagery, the Ship Caulkers’ Houses branding, logo (by Seaberry Design) and website (by Lollygig) is designed to evoke the spirit of technological genius and honor the incredible talent and innovation of Black caulkers.

The website is live. The logo is popping and we’re excited. A wonderful collaboration to bring history to life at the intersection of story and design.
